This design is so cute and another really easy design. A really fun, bright look for summer that you can complete in under an hour!

Steps

Start by preparing your nails first by giving yourself a good manicure. You might also use 1-2 coats of a nail treatment (such as OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener) followed by a basecoat (such as using Essie Protein Base Coat). Then you are ready for the fun!

  1. Gather Your Supplies:
    • Basecoat and topcoat
    • Dotting tools in four sizes – Large, medium, small and teeny-tiny
    • Three contrasting nail polish colors. You can test your colors out on top of each other on a sheet of paper first to make sure you are happy with your choices
    • Cuticle stick
    • Acetone or DIY Acetone-Glycerin
    • Clean up brush or Q-tips
  2. Base Color Coat – Apply 2-3 coats of nail polish color (you can use just 1-2 coats, but if you want the manicure to really last 3 thin even coats works best from my experience).
  3. Yellow Daisies & Little Dots – Using your flower color nail polish and medium dotting tool, create a few flowers on each nail by imagining a center dot and making five dots around it that just touch on the outsides. Using the same polish color and small dotting tool create a few accent dots in the spaces between the flowers.
  4. Blue Daisy Centers – Using the large dotting tool create a dot in the center of each flower.
  5. Tiny Blue Dots – Using the teeny-tiny dotting tool create a tiny dot in the center of each accent dot you created in step three. Next add a few more tiny dots that stand on their own to fill in the gaps of the design.
  6. Clean Up – Allow your design to dry 5-10 minutes then using a brush dipped in acetone, clean up your cuticle line. Allow the design to dry a few hours before applying your topcoat if possible, to minimize the chance of smearing. Moisturize and, voila! Your done.

Tips

  • Partial Flowers – To create partial flowers that are near the cuticle, expect to make a big mess! At least, that’s how I do it. Then use a cuticle stick to wipe off the polish within a few millimeters of the cuticle. I don’t like to get too close because I find it pulls the polish and sometimes ruins the design. Wait for it to dry about 5 minutes then use a brush dipped in acetone to clean up the rest.
  • Perfect Flowers – If you don’t feel very confident about your flowers, try practicing first by creating some on a practice sheet.
  • Test Your Colors – To really make the flowers pop, make them a high contrast color from your base nail polish color. The third color is the “wild card” and can really be anything you want!

Get the Look

For this look I used:

  • China Glaze – Shower Together
  • Sally Hansen – Mellow Yellow (xtreme wear)
  • Sally Hansen – Blue-Away (insta-dri)
  • Bundle Monster Dotting Tools
